One of the best shows on television is Prison Break on Fox.  The show is currently in its 4th season and is a constant action packed, on the edge of your seat type of program.  The plot is based on a man, Michael Scofield, whose brother, Lincoln Burrows, is framed for the murder of the Vice President of the United States’ brother.  Lincoln is sentenced to death row, and Michael is determined to keep his brother alive and clear his good name.  Michael commits armed robbery to get himself in the same prison, Fox River, as his brother.  The best part is that Michael is a structural engineer and his engineering firm designed the facility his brother is incarcerated in.  Michael is convinced that he can break both himself and Lincoln out of prison using an extremely detailed plan that is tattooed all over his own body.

Jumping through the first season, Michael successfully breaks himself and his brother out of prison, along with six other inmates leading us into season two.  Season two is comprised of the Fox River eight’s run away from the law.  Some of the characters team up, while others fend for themselves.   They are being chased by the police, and more significantly “the company” who has an alternate agenda of their own to follow through with.  Michael and Lincoln’s quest for freedom takes them to Panama, the final destination in Michael’s master plan.  Season two ends with another framed criminal act, leaving Michael in a prison, SONA, in Panama, a place where the worst of the worst criminals live out the remainder of their lives.  The company changed their motives when they realized how clever Michael was, and it became a part of their plan to ensure that Michael ended up in that facility to break one of their own men out of SONA.

Season three revolves around Michael thinking up a plan to break out of SONA, along with a company member, James Whistler.  Michael and James do not trust one another, but they both have an undying desire to break out.  Their desire was intensified when the company started using family members and loved ones as collateral for the successful escape.

Skipping to season four, Michael yet again successfully breaks out of prison, with James, and a few additional prisoners who helped them throughout the process.  Season four is about the remaining Fox River escaped convicts teaming up, with a few extra criminals, to take down the company, in exchange for their freedom.  Michael and friends must find 6 micro chips that comprise the company’s data base of all information and plans they have, Scylla.  If anyone gets hold of the information outside of the company, the company would not be able to continue.  This is the middle of season four and is currently being broadcasted to the public.

The show is not only addictive and enjoyable to watch, it is also clever, intelligent and well planned out.  Following the various storylines and plot twists are extremely difficult if you are not an avid fan.  I personally enjoy re-watching the episodes in preparation for the new season or just to refresh my memory from the previous week’s events.

My entire family watches the television program.  Monday night’s at 9pm, we all congregate to watch together either at school or my house.  There is absolutely no talking or time for comments until the commercial breaks, because every element of the show is crucial to fully understand what is happening.

I do not usually get excited about television.  I have my guilty pleasures like everyone else of watching old TV show reruns, reality TV, and even music videos.  Prison Break is in its own category for me.  Sometimes I have to cancel plans if it conflicts with the schedule because I hate hearing about what happened on the show before I see it, as well as knowing that other people know what happened to my favorite characters before I do.  This reminds me of “Spoiling Survivor,” where hardcore fans speculate and ruin the excitement for the rest of the fan base.
